International e-Navigation Underway Conference 2017

The seventh e-Navigation Underway International Conference was held from 31st January to 2nd February, 2017 on board the DFDS ferry M/S PEARL SEAWAYS, during which time she sailed from Copenhagen to Oslo and then returned to Copenhagen. The theme for the conference was e-Navigation: A Showcase of Progress and Trends. The conference was attended by 154 delegates, representing 28 countries and 8 International Organisations. China Level 1 AtoN Manager Course

The Level 1 AtoN Manager course will be held in China from 22 August to 26 September 2017. The participants will have a special chance to attend the Training Seminar on the Use of the IALA Risk Management Toolbox from 10 to 15 September in Xiamen City, China. In accordance with the MoU signed between China MSA and IALA,  MSA will generously fund all training, accommodation and transportation costs in China for all participants. The Academy may sponsor international airfares and visa costs for participants from target states on a case to case base.   Detailed information and an application form can be found in this flyer.

China MSA and the Academy sincerely invite your Authority to send  Aids to Navigation managers who have a good understanding of English language to participate the 2017 Level 1 AtoN Manager course in China.

Two Day course on e-Navigation and GNSS – Advanced Notice

Due to high demand, the IALA World-Wide Academy will deliver a two day course on e-Navigation and Global Navigation Satellite Systems at IALA Headquarters from 30 to 31 May 2017. Registration will be open from 1 March 2017 (registration fee €450). The course will be limited to 20 participants so those interested can make an early booking by contacting the Programme Manager (gerardine.delanoye@iala-aism.org) who will reserve a place for them without obligation.

IALA & The city of Saint-Germain-en-Laye


The city of Saint-Germain-en-Laye kindly hosted a presentation on “European GNSS Activities in Maritime to support Safety of Navigation – EGNOS and Galileo” during the 63rd Council Meeting of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA), Thursday 15 December. On this occasion, IALA offered a Crystal Award to the Mayor of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, represented by Mr Audurier (deputy mayor), in appreciation of the continuous support to IALA. 13th International VTS Symposium


The 13th IALA VTS (Vessel Traffic Services) Symposium was held 8-12 August in Kuala Lumpur hosted by the Marine Department Malaysia. The theme was Sustainable Safe Navigation and it attracted more than 300 participants and 24 exhibitors of VTS equipment from all over the world.
